"Echo in the Mirror"

Steel mirrors in distorted sun
Arrhythmic applause in the haven
Faces drop & distantly liquefy
On my arms two corpulent ravens

Exodus into desert plains
Landscape calm & silent now
The notes are drifting really slowly
While you stare & ask me “How?”

I tell you why you should ask me “When?”
These are plains of mystery
Seven hundred people scan
In search of unexpected prodigy
